Meet the Team
Hailing from Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia, Krys Fernandez is an underwater videographer specialising in travel video editing. When not travelling to various dive locations worldwide, she channels her creativity into crafting marine-themed stationery that inspires appreciation for marine creatures and reaches beyond the dive community.
John Roney is an underwater videographer and editor based on Vancouver Island, Canada. Passionate about ocean conservation and science communication, he uses film to showcase the diverse marine life of the Salish Sea. When not beneath the waves, John edits film and television projects that inspire and educate audiences about our oceans.
David Vazquez is a dive instructor, an owner of DPM Diving, and an underwater videographer from Barcelona who is based in Nusa Penida Island, Indonesia. For the last 15 years, David served as a Scuba Diving Instructor teaching courses, sharing his passion for marine life, and raising awareness about the protection of the oceans. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he began to establish himself as an underwater videographer and now spends his time creating content to showcase the beauty and fragility of our oceans. His passion is to advocate and help secure a healthy future for the ocean environment. His underwater footage helps to raise awareness and inspire other marine enthusiasts and viewers to take action and protect our underwater world.
Luca Keller is a German filmmaker and marine videography instructor, based in Southeast Asia. With a background as a dive instructor and underwater videography trainer, Luca has taught divers from around the world the art of underwater videography. Together with his partner, Luca has founded his independent production company “Underwater Lunatics” whose debut short natural history documentary won over 20 international awards.
Fabian Guggenberger is a marine life videographer and scientist from Austria, now based in Indonesia. With boundless passion, fascination, and an insatiable urge to explore, Fabian immerses himself in the ocean's secrets, attentively listening to its whispers and vividly portraying its captivating stories. His journey into the world of videography began with the creation of award-winning music videos. However, Fabian's heart quickly led him beneath the waves. Today, he specializes in various forms of marine life videography, with a particular focus on the mesmerizing world of macro videography.
Julia is an Austrian freediving instructor, writer, producer, and co-founder of the independent production company Underwater Lunatics. Her critical and literary works are powered by her all-consuming love for the ocean and seek to inform, empower, and inspire change. Her work in the independent short documentary “Metropolis - A Day in Reef City” has been awarded 16 awards and countless selections at international film festivals.
With boundless energy and an uncanny ability to make everyone smile, Kaka is the heart and soul of SeventyOnePercent’s. From barking out creative ideas to wagging approval for new campaigns, he keeps the team inspired and motivated. When not busy “networking” at the beach, Kaka can be found chasing waves or napping in the sun—always dreaming of the next big adventure (or snack).
